Katrice Byrd, DSW, LCSW
Katrice Byrd, DSW, LCSW, currently serves as a Military Behavioral Health Social Worker for the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. She joined CDP in 2021 after completing her Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Degree at the University of Southern California (USC). She focused on social determinants of health, explicitly eradicating social isolation and suicide of Veterans through evidence-based storytelling.
Dr. Byrd has extensive training and experience in trauma-focused interventions, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR, Suicide Prevention, and Brainspotting. She also gives back to the profession by mentoring and serving as an adjunct faculty member in clinical social work interventions with MSW students.
As a veteran and former Dual-Military spouse, she understands the intricate nuances of Military culture and stressors. Her previous clinical work includes Active Duty, Veterans, Youth, Families, and Law Enforcement. Dr. Byrd is retired from the US Army and is also a US Marine Corps Veteran.
